For twenty years now, people have been asking why to use FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) in place of ROS (rest of the Softwares - not free and not open source). We gave out the usual answers - it's free, it's open source so you can modify the code - but no one seemed to bother.
 
So that is what made us look at the question differently. Last year we brought you FreePL for the first time where you have 8 FOSS franchises locking horns on stage to fight for the best players in the world and to come out on top with the FreePL trophy. This year we bring you FOSS v/s ROS - a series of 7 T20s where the players are the softwares! So while Pidgin locks horns with Trillian to win the battle of online communication, Amarok takes on Winamp to challenge for the rights to split your eardrums. And so it goes on.
 
However not all of you must be familiar with FOSS so we have gone ahead and combined your favourite players with our favourite FOSS (and ROS). So you have the world's number 1 Test batsman Gambhir - who is also pretty good at T20s - taking on the mantle for GIMP while his counterpart Photoshop is being taken care of by the flamboyant Ponting.
 
Ok, enough has been said and done. The battle lines have been drawn. The warriors are ready. It is time for the epic battle of FOSS v/s ROS to commence. May Lady Luck (and the umpires' affections) be on your side!
